About Victoria Ravens

The Victoria Ravens is a developing wheelchair rugby team based in Victoria, British Columbia. Founded in 2024 by three-time Paralympian Byron Green, the club is building a place for young athletes to learn the game, develop their skills, and experience the friendships and shared purpose that come with being part of a team.

Wheelchair rugby combines speed, strategy, chair skills, and teamwork. Every player has a role, whether that means creating space, making a well-timed pass, stopping an opponent, or carrying the ball across the goal line. For a developing team, learning how those pieces fit together is a rewarding part of the game.

Our focus is on building those foundations. That means making room for questions, practice, mistakes, and progress. A successful pass, a more controlled turn, or a play that comes together can be a meaningful step forward. We want our players to enjoy the challenge of improving and to take pride in what they contribute.

Byron’s experience representing Canada at three Paralympic Games is part of the Ravens’ foundation. It connects a young local club with the wider wheelchair rugby community and the possibilities the sport offers. Each player’s relationship with rugby will be different, and there is value in discovering what they enjoy about the game.

As the Ravens develop, our aim is to build a team where effort, respect, and encouragement are part of every session. We want players to feel comfortable trying something new, supporting one another, and growing together.
